First Thursdays at Making Space, E14 0NU

We began our series of First Thursdays interventions at The Tommy Flowers Community Pub that we founded in 2018, an archive of which is here:tommyflowers.org/first-thursdays

With the opportunity to refurbish the long empty post office next door at 48 Aberfeldy Street, we constructed a modular interior, to give much needed workshop and exhibition space to artists, curators, educational institutions and emerging organisations.

With the impending demolition of this row of 1950s shop units and upstairs flats we have limited time, so are endeavouring to make the most of this of this resource until the cut off of September 2022. We are especially open to offers of creative collaboration that benefit and engage with local residents in this area of Poplar that has historically embraced diverse cultures and is now going through major changes, as its population increases, with an an even greater need for arts, culture and heritage with local resonance.

“It researches ideas and questions about what is possible, the value of thinking and rehearsing different futures…the role of radical imagination in shaping future events and what this means in the present.”
